Antique Majolica Cheese Keeper Dome Maker by Joseph Roth London, Late 19th Century

An antique Majolica pottery cheese dome includes two pieces, a dome shaped lid with tree branch handle, cobalt blue field decorated with dogwood floral sprays, green leaves and lavender bows, round bottom plate in a mottled green and brown with yellow borders and dogwood floral sprays.
Crafted in England, circa 1870’s. Impressed mark JRL for Joseph Roth London, one of the rarest and most mysterious in the English pottery collecting world.

In very good condition, without chips or cracks, showing typical age appropriate wear. Showing 3 unglazed areas along the bottom edge of its base where it was resting while it was originally glazed, as made.
