Pair of Neoclassical Style, parcel-gilt, Coin Silver (.900) footed salt cellars, American, Ca. 1850’s (underside of each salt cellar is lightly engraved with script initials – NSG – and the date 1859). The maker’s mark for Gorham Mfg. Co. (located in Providence, Rhode Island) is slightly rubbed, but discernible. Feet are in the form of detailed, full-bodied griffins. Each salt cellar measures 2 inches high at highest point x 2 3/4 inches diameter (widest point). The pair weighs 4.255 troy ounces. Each salt cellar has a lightly beaded border. Dark areas in photos are reflections. In very good antique condition.
